either get some algea gone chemicals from the lfs or add some live plants. in conjunction with either of these lower your lighting times a little per day.. either or which done right will usually do the trick

 

yup less lighting, i think snails eat that sh*t also.

 

get a pleco not a snail theyll just spread and that will be your next post how ot get rid of snails

 

Last pleco bit the dust...actually my piranha did most of the biting, but I think that I will give it another shot.
With regards to a big snail would a raph cat be able to take down a big snail or do they just eat the small baby snails? If my raph couldnt take down a big snail then I could get one of them and the raph could take care of the baby snails. Make sense?

 

Just get a really large pleco, thats bigger than your reds and you will have more of a chance.

 

Blue green algae is actually a nitrogen fixing bacteria and is a common indicator that you don't have enough nitrogen in your tank as far as planted tanks go. If you're doing live plants you actually don't want 0 nitrates, because your plants need something to feed off of.

At any rate, the most effective way of killing blue green algae is with a 200mg per 10 gallon treatment of erythromycin phosphate.

 

So this is blue-green algae?
