Not that I would ever get one of these tankbusters, but I was looking at photos of juvenile and mature red belly pacus and noticed the dark pattern on the juvees and not on the adults. I assume this pattern goes away?

why are they called tankbusters?

When they get big, if they get scared, they will dart across the tank, breaking everthing in its path and possibly smashing into the aquarium itself.

juvenile pacu go from being beautiful little fish into the biggest ugliest wastes of tankspace you can imagine

I disagree on that one
I've got seven pacu's (see my gallery for pics) and I just love those guys. If you have the tankspace they ae great semi-agressive fish to own.

The pattern will go away and make place for a dull greyish color.
