Are they like a white/semi transparent fur like thing? because I had that on my driftwood, it didn't do any harm, I just brushed it off once in a while. It stopped growing a few months ago.

I was thinking the same. I used to get the same sh*t on my driftwood for a while, I just brushed it off and eventually it stopped growing. Probably not harmful.
