Ok, I keep on argueing with my lfs manager about the so called, "white piranha." He says it is a different species, and I say it is just a rhombeus. Input? Frank?

Whites is just a common name for rhoms when they are small/juvinile. They usually start darkening when they are sub adult.

They are related somehow, I believe it is like the relationship between Pacu and Piranha.
They are both in the "characin" family.

Whimples, silver dollars, pacu's and piranha's are all members of the subfamily of Serrasalmidae...
(maybe you can compare it to how wolves, foxes, jackals etc. are related.... Correct me if I'm wrong, though...)
