Hi, I am relatively new to these forum boards and to piranha keeping, I understand that piranha are happiest with very little lighting as it simulates their natural enviroment. However, I have a 40g Tank and two 20watt 24" lamps, one 'Powerglo' (sort of ultra-violet blue tint to enhance the colours) and one 'Sunglo' (simulates daylight). I can use both or either. Which is the best please?

I am partial to the daylight bulb. But both are very good. I dont see a prob with either one or both.

I'd use only one light , and I were would I'd pick the one that looks best: if you want to use live plants, the color of the light doesn't really matter, because you need to get plants that can live in low light environments (like java fern or anubias) anyways...

I only use one 36W lamp on my 80 gallon, and the live plants I use (the ones mentioned above) are doing great...
