my plants have what look like roots? growing out of the sides of them all up the plant

i just added gravel and flourite for substrate
and i have c02

any ideas what this stuff is?

if it's roots i always thought they grew outta the bottom in the dirt

what plants are they?, cabomba grows "water roots" and a number of other stem plants do as well... its probably not a bad thing.

They are called adventitious roots. Not much you can do about them. Perhaps try fertilizing.

Agree...except trimming them you can't do much.What type of plant is it?
