Is it best to have powerheads going in one direction or from different parts of the aquarium? Do P's like areas of very low current?

yeah its better to have the powerheads going in 1 direction. its like theyre in their natural setting which is a river. dead spots are needed because your p's will get tired.

When they are active and want to burn some energy they will swim higher to catch the curent and relax for a while... when they are done they will just goto a dead spot... when your setting your tank up, and you have feeders in it to do your first cycle. Just put some gold fish food in and youll be able to see the curent the power head makes... adjust it to what you think the ps would like the most... i try putting the powerhead as high as posible in my tank so i get better air exchange at the surface... ps seem to like it up there too..

The best is actually down in my opinion preferably in the middle of the tank. It is hard to acheive since most powerhead only come with pieces to hook it up for a horizontal thrust.
