i have a python, which is a great thing, but in my situation it does not work so well for syphoning. i was wondering if i could just buy some kind of powerhead and attach it to 2 pieces of tubing. i could let one end run all the way to the sink, and have the other end going to the gravel vac end of the python. is there any problem with this idea? i guess the hardest part would be figuring out how to attach the tubing to the powerhead. i could probably use hose clamps. anyway i figure it would be a very efficient way to syphon without all the problems of gravity.

A powerhead would work but the suction is too strong. It'll suck up junk and gravel from your tank to the impeller which is not good.

i think itll work.to prevent it from sucking in gravel etc... simply put a filter tube screen there like on a normal powerhead or filter tube.im gonna try it too.
