When i change the water (25%) per week, my 3 4" rbs dart about the tank, swimming up and down and to each side, they seem really happy and not bothered about coming to the front of the tank and acting all nervous. it only happens for a day then they just seem to hide and only show themselves when the lights are out. Is this normal?

yes, normal behavior for juvenile redbellys. You can help the prob by adding a powerhead for more current in the tank.

Too small for 4" RBPs, upgrade NOW, to at least a 55g.

for a powerhead, i would recommend a Aquaclear mod.802 that flows 400 gph. this will produce a nice current in that 55 if you get one.

my 3 rbp do the same thing...... I try so hard not to freak them out when Im cleaning..... but they dont care..... they love it when I move stuff around, and I change the location of my power head in the tank, they seem to like that to....... they are comical swimming into that current!
