Well, I went to a pet store in hamilton today. Saw a bunch of different pirahas. They had 6 or 7 red belly piranhas in a tank, ranging in size from about 2" to about 5", but they wanted $50 a piece. The thing that really pissed me off though was seeing about 50 gold piranhas in an 80 gallon tank, every single one had missing fins and bad body bites, but they wanted $65 a piece for these things, and they were about 4" long.

On a better note though, they have a 1500 gallon tank in there that was interesting, they had a 2' nurse shark, a 5' green moray eel, and a 5' sand shark, what a sight that was, to walk in the aquarium section and see this big ass tank with sharks in it. The tank was the size of my bedroom.

oh, and I forgot the most important part, I now have 3 more baby red bellies in my 20 gallon tank, about 3/4 " long at the moment :biggrin:

Good to hear you should try to snap some pics of the tank at the lfs ur talking about so we can see as well.

Yeah, alot of LFS dont really care much for their fish.

Most are constantly accused of over crowding, mixing, nonpropper feeding, or not quarentine fish. Overpricing and labeling the fish as a different species can happen just to make sales.

there's a REALLY good LFS in saskatoon where I live, It's called "world of pets". The owner, Kurtis, is a friend of the family kinda. He's so good about all his tanks, never ever seen them anywhere near overcrowded. He's got my 6" silver arowana on hold in there all by himself in a 50 gal. You'd think they would house them together, like most everyone does? anyways, yeah He's really good. Just goes to show ya, there are some caring pet stores ou there! I'm against wal-mart all the way though.

That really is alot of spilos for such a small tank but, not a bad price for retail. I'm sure they got a hell of a deal for buying in mass bulk and probably don't care about a few losses.

thats lfs's for you with fish like p's they cant be kept with anything else take up alot of tanks if split well just have to keep buying them and give them a better home
