Well, I was planning on using eco as my substrate in my 75 gallon. Since I've never kept plants I thought it would make up for some of my inexperience. I plan on using low light conditions and using plants from plantgeek.com's low light plants. I read this on their site "In a low tech, low light plant tank, there really is no need for a "special" plant-specific substrate such as Fluorite or Eco-Complete. Most of the plants that will survive in this type of tank just don't need it, very few will even get planted in it. Java ferns and moss both get attached to decor, anubias can be planted or attached to decor as well." Thinking about saving the $ and just using sand.

What are the exact plants you plan on planting in the tank and how many watts of lighting?

And is it just gonna be a planted tank? and do you think you could need a CO2 system?

Well, no CO2 for low light system or perhaps soem kind of yeast bottle if any.
You might also want to try Echinodorus bleheri. It will grow under low light too.
And do not forget Cryptocorynes.

I just plan on having some crypts, amazon sword, java fern, anubias, anarchis, and maybe some dwarf sag, and I also like the corkscew val. No Co2. I will probably use that greg watson stuff for ferts.

lighting will be around 110 watts in a 75 gallon. It's going to be a rbp tank
