i'm looking for a quiet filter for my 65 gallon. i currently have a ac300 but the waterfalls are just too noisy. My tank is in my room and it's kinda hard to sleep. i was thinking about the fluval 304. Anybody got some recommendations?

Canisters are very quiet. As for brand most like ehiem. I have fluval 404 and like it also.I found that ehiem are about 80 dollars more for the same size pump as the 404. That is the main reason i got a fluval. Ehiem and fluval are probably in the top 3 or 4 in canisters.

I use a fluval 304 in my 55...I set the spray bar to where ir flows across the surface of the water.It doesn't make any noise,but keeps the surface aggitated very well.

but i always find if you want to avoid all the splashing going on just add more water so the fall isn't so far down :smile:

ehiem is the most quietest canister filter i have ever owned ..it like it never on ..thats how quiet it is

Agree with NIKE!!

Also, I've owned Magnums, Eheim, FilStar and FluVals before. I rate the Eheim to be the best and most quiet, Fluval and Filstar tie for 2nd, then Magnum.
