i'm looking for a quiet filter for my 65 gallon. i currently have a ac300 but the waterfalls are just too noisy. My tank is in my room and it's kinda hard to sleep. i was thinking about the fluval 304. Anybody got some recommendations?

Canisters are very quiet. As for brand most like ehiem. I have fluval 404 and like it also.I found that ehiem are about 80 dollars more for the same size pump as the 404. That is the main reason i got a fluval. Ehiem and fluval are probably in the top 3 or 4 in canisters.

I use a fluval 304 in my 55...I set the spray bar to where ir flows across the surface of the water. It doesn't make any noise, but keeps the surface aggitated very well.

all sugestions above are good
but i always find if you want to avoid all the splashing going on just add more water so the fall isn't so far down

Agree with NIKE!!

Also, I've owned Magnums, Eheim, FilStar and FluVals before. I rate the Eheim to be the best and most quiet, Fluval and Filstar tie for 2nd, then Magnum.
