I'm going to set up a terrarium in my 55 gal hex.
it's gonna have a water fall, slate platforms, caves
and some small critters.

I also have a large area in my basement to set one up
with a little pond for some p's. prob fab out of fiber glass
and sealed with some non-toxic aquarium paint/sealer.

Does anyone have some experience in this or have one setup
already?

I would like to know maybe how you have your lighting setup,
any plumbing involved.
what plants would be ideal for above ground, and whatever
critters you have.

It all depends on what critters you are going to put in it.

Probably lizards, newts, frogs or turtles small fish,
no muskrats or ducks or whooping cranes.
An ecosystem set up to grow plants, allow small animals to live in and maintain life. Allow for some simulation of natural occurances such as rain or fog. I can see moss, some grassy plants down to a small waterfall maybe even some dragonfly larvae.
I can see it being very elaborate.

its not going to happen, if you want a variety of creatures you will be best creating a viquarium (sp) which is half land and half water, that way you can have frogs, or newts or turtles/terrapins along with community fish or goldfish.

you shouldn't mix reptiles or amphibians, but despite this I have african dwarf frogs living with chenise fire-belly newts and neon tetras, and I also have an african clawed frog and a japanise fire belly newt living in a catfish and cichlid community, but both of these set-ups are in the usual aquarium style.
despite their sucsess every experienced person would tell you that I have not got ideal conditiond for these creatures.

but you really must decide what you want to keep before you can determin what tank setup you will need.

Haha, i guess i had two tanks with male and female in each, some times i put them all in the same tank. They where a lot of fun.
I let them walk around the house n stuff ...
they walked fast i thought ... and i floated them in the bathtub some times, they loved it.
