What size tank is needed for one piranha? Also what would be good for a group of 5 piranhas? I'd like to get redbelly(since they're cheapest.

I'd say for one get at least a 30 gallon. They will grow to around a foot in length eventually, years down the line. The more room the better so they can swim a bit and turn easily. For 5 try and get larger than 100 gallons.
