So i know powerheads create a current in a tank, but i do not have one setup in mine. What equipment do i need to set this up I have not heard of these, but am also relatively new to the hoppy (5 months). Some constructive help would be greatly appreciated. I have 2 60 gallon filters setup in my 55 gallon tank if that helps at all. Thank you.

Power is used to creat current and to agitate the surface of the water. This promotes O2....hang on I will give you a link that will help.

The question is... whst do you want the powerhead to do for your tank? Powerheads can be used and act as a biofilter, create water current for excercise and oxygen mixture sin the tank.

For your 50 gal, i would use either a 402 (power minimized) and a AC300 for filteration.

just buy those cheaper air pumps. Then buy the air stones and hoses. It also create current which the water rises and pushes the water, my piranha likes to play around with bubbles sometimes.
