hiya. i have had two red bellies for about 7 months now and they seemed to have stopped growing at about 5" no matter how much i feed them. can anyone explain why this is and if there is anything i can do to get them to start growing again. cheers lads

What size is the tank? How often you do water changes, a what does your p's diet consist of.

i feed them goldfish feeders mainly, the tank is 41/2 foot by 2 foot i do a water change every week. any ideas?

Feed them different things variety is better. Like Beefheart,Smelt,shrimp,krill etc. also P's growth does slow down around 5-7".

Red Belly piranhas growth rates naturally slow at about that size - look at the differance in a year and you will see that they are still growing!

Try feeding them some fat nightcrawlers. I used to feed mine just frozen food and feeders. When I started to feed them nightcrawlers, I noticed a huge difference in just two days!

there is a mineral in goldfish that inhibits growth, I dont remeber what its called

better start feeding them some raw meat!
