This topic was brought up in one of my english classes in college for debate.
My personal stance is that I am a christian and believe in God.
The debate is of the governments policy of seperation of church and state.
For those that dont know what that is about, the US government made a policy that the government is not involved or affiliated with religion, or at least thats my understanding.
Then my questions are,
why does the government sanction licenses to preists and so forth for certain religial ceremonies?
Why does it say in God we trust on our currency?
To me it seems that we are not seperated.
So then how can government organizations justify firing teachers for talking about God (their own beliefs) in school?
It just doesnt seem right to me
