well im starting to think i want to create a mixed shoal this summer. i have my 4 reds at about 3-4" now and theyll probly be 6"+ by end of may, at which time i plan on buying a 125gal, give or take. what other p's would you guys recommend adding to my tank other than reds and how many. also, how soon do you think i should add them considering the larger mine grow the larger the new ones will have to be = more $$$. lemme know so i can start planning. thanks guys!

well i have read some intersting info on mixing pygo's and i am now against mixing the species bc they r not mixed in the wild. but mixed pygo tanks i think r awsome. i would get some piraya's i think by far they r the best looking pygo. i would get 1 piraya and one caribe. that would be 6 in the 125 and that would be fine for a 125g tank

are there different color pirayas available? i dont know much about them. how much more aggresive are they than caribes. i know caribes arent crazy but i know that you cant get much more mellow for a p than my reds. also, are pirayas easy to get small? i think i usually see them on the larger side...

ok.
the aswers are piraya can be found small you just have to look and i dont think they can determind in aggression and neither can carbie they fish will be aggressive and active if it feels safe and at home.
i would say add two or three carbie because if you added piraya these count for two reds or carbie as they get twice the size.

not faster but larger nearly 2ftTL instead of 1ftTL this means you kneed 40gallons per piraya for terratorial space.
this gallonage is taken from the advised gallonage per pygo in a shoal of over 2.
