Sexing Convicts

I would like to breed some convicts. Need to know how to tell them apart I have 4, 2 ping and 2 black. Also would a black and ping breed together? Any info on this would be great. Also anything special I should do to my 15g tank to get it ready for breeding? Thanks in advance.
