I was thinking about changing my 55 gallon fresh water aquarium into a saltwater tank, but since I found out it would cost me close to $1000 dollars to do, I somewhat changed my mind. I had 4 red bellies but traded them in because I was tired of them going crazy everytime someone came within 3 feet of the aquarium. Right now I have a Jack Dempsy and a pleco in my 55.

I'm thinking of purchasing a Black rhom 3"-4" (venezuela) from Aqua Scape. I can still change to saltwater, but with not many fish or live rock for about $400. What would you guys do go with the Rhom or saltwater? I'm just hoping that if I do go with the Rhom, it would not go nuts when someone is near the aquarium like the RBP's and the Jack does now.

I am facing the same conflict with my new 33gal....... Either give it to my denticulata as a new home or go salt(fish only), if I go salt, the skimmer and fish will cost me about 300$ cdn. So I think I'm gonna stick to P's since all I need is a filter and a few decos for the denti. Im still a newbie aneway but if I had the $$$ I would probly go salt (fish and reef ) after a lotta research.

If you have the time, money, and patience than i would go saltwater. Other than that id stick to fresh. My friends have saltwater tanks and once they start slacking in maintanence their fish die. Many times even for no apparent reason. Dont get me wrong, saltwater tanks are dope, but keep in mind you can create a very nice fw tank as well.
