Red Cheek Piranha?-----------At the lfs it was labeled in pernament marker on a aquarium. What kind of piranha has that as a common name around the world?
P.S they were both 3 inches long and had a divider seperating them.
As far as I know there are none called that. Spilo CF have been called red throat Ps, but not red cheek. Just sounds like they have no idea what they have!

Dealers can call fish whatever they want in terms of common names. Scroll down on this page and read about S. spilopleura CF and their common name. Red cheek was fashionable long before red-throat or diamond pirana and other novalty names.
Its easier if you are only interested in piranhas, but there are so many fish commonly seen in fish stores now-a-days that it would be impossible for most people. Not to mention common names are easier for most people to remember than a scientific name.

With scientific names it is basically one name with 6 or more common names.
