I have one 6" Pacu (which I thought was a Red) and two 6" Red's hangin out in a 55g crib. I plan on building a 175g tank soon. Does the Pacu ( being related to the Red Belly) have a chance of surviving? It's schooling with them right now and his playful attitude is really a pain in the ass. He already ate the fins off my 16" Shark which is now dead. Are they gonna get along?

You should check out past and previous postings on this thread. Theres alot of discussions on P tankmates with Pacus, Oscars, Cichlids..ect.

It can be possible. As long as you provide the propper food, space, and watchfull eye.. a few Ps can live in harmony with different species.

Personally I think pacus are just ugly and doesn't look right shoaling with p's.

I got 2 yellow belly piranhas living with 14 reds and 4 ternetzis and they are doing just fine. But that does not mean I want them in there either and I will be trying to remove them as soon as somebody wants them.
