i'm setting up a 55 gal. tank and was going to put four 1in rb's in there...i was wondering if they like a lot of water movement or not...i also wanted to know if anyone had any good advice..beginner
i have my 55 gallon with 6 rbp in it. they range a lil bigger than urs (check signature), but i have two filters ment for 30-60 gallons, one on each side, and i have 2 rio 800 powerheads almost right next to eachother.
In the wild, Reds don't live in area's with fast-flowing water and lots of current, and in many cases they don't seem to care about a powerhead being installed.
But a bit of extra current never harms - I'd provide a couple of area's with a calmer water flow if you get a powerhead, though.
At that size i would not a powerhead yet (if this is what u mean by water movement) the fish can get sucked up in it or stuck on it and die. There has been some instances of this, don't add a powerhead till there at lest 2.5". I got mine when they were 2" and they loved the powerhead, just a suggestion. good luck
