when do rbp turn black??? and do they have golds spots or is that just ternz???

reds turn black when they are breeding or if they are really old.
but reds do have gold spots also

mine had alot, imean alot fo gold flaking, but they were atleast five years old or more, sometimes tehy would turn black, they never bread for me but there color would fluxuate at differnt times of the day, usually more redness in teh mornings and more faded colors towards night..
