Does anyone know if a pump appropriate for a 10g tank can be used on a large airstone that I'll be putting in my 55g paludarium tank???
I mean, I really don't understand why certain pumps have to be used for certain sized tanks if all it's used for is an airstone. Can someone please clarify this?
The depth of the tank is some of the issue. It's like your taking a volley ball and putting it underwater.
If ya hold down 1 ft deep. it has less resistance than if your are holding it 4 ft deep. Hence the deeper the more risistance.
I always thought that different levels of pumps determines how much power it puts out. All pumps can produce air, but each model represents the power to which it can produce. You can use your air stone with your 10 gal pump.. but wont do much for a bubble wand made to produce enough oxygen to help out a 55 gal.
