mine went out for 16 hours and they are still alive. Keep an eye out for ammonia levels. You may need to do a partial water change depending on the length of the outage.

Eh the bacteria are pretty much fucked. The odds of keeping them alive in a power outage without a couple hundred gallons per hour flowing through the media is somewhere around zilch.

Piranhas are pretty hardy fish from low oxygen waters, the amazon aint exacly well oxygenated with the slow moving waters and decaying plant matter turning the water brown and all. Just stir the water every once in awhile but more importantly wrap your tank in blankets to maintain the heat. If possible, add some ammo-lock and 1 teaspoon of salt to healp with the water quality.
