have had plants in all my tanks since I had my first one. But almost all my plants have grown these tiny white streamer stems out from the main stem. They are separate from all of the new growth. I can prune them off, but they come back again and again. I don't like how they look and I never have seen this happen in any lfs. How can I get rid of them for good ?

I had that happen to my Elodea plants before. It sounds like they are roots. If you leave them grow, the root will get longer and a new stem will grow off to the side right above the root. When the new stem gets about 1/4" long, you can cut the main stem just under the roots and replant it. Sometimes if you leave that new stem on and let it grow, it will take too many nutrients away from the main stem above the new one and it might wither out and die.

I'll see if I have any like that and post a pic tonight
