Just recently in the past few days i put my piece of drift wood in my 75 gallon tank to let it try to sink. As it was sitting in the water is got a whole lot of white cloudy substance on it.. has anyone ever heard of this kind of thing happening. any help would be much appreciateed.

Its probably your paramters , Nitrite and Nitrate , I wold do a water change and add salt , Bring the temp up alittle to , to about 82F, It should go away in a few days ...
It is caused from stress and poor water conditions .

What size tank ya got ? and how many inhabitants
