Would it be safe to put pictus cat with a Oscar??

I heard that pictus cat can grow big and they grow pretty fast also.

In a 75 gallon tank, would it be safe to add 3" pictus with my 6" Oscar??

I would try to get a bigger pictus, a 6" oscar could easily eat a 3" pictus.

I have read that pictus cats only get up to 6". I had one with my Pacu and 5 days later they tore him up. This just happened a couple of days ago. If Oscars are as agressive as I here I wouldn't take the chance. Remember that Pictus cats are like sharks, all they do is swim around most of the time.

i've kept pictus with oscars before and it works out fine. Pictus cats can grow up to 10 inches and also sport spines sharp enough to break your skin (that's why u don't use nets to catch them). Unless it's a piranha or another fish that disects it's meals in bites, pictus are usually a safe bet for your tank.

It depends on the specie, as it turns out there are a ton of catfish out there with either spots or stripes that vary in length from 5-12". The two most common types that you are likely going to run into are the spotted pictus and the 4-lined pictus. Spotted pictus max at 5-6". 4-lined pictus max around 10-12".

Even small spotted pictus seem to work exceptionally well with large cichlids... for whatever reason, cichlids aren't generally inclined to eat them.

oscars have a tendency of swallowing things that are way too big. i had to save a fullgrown oscar cuz it had a channel cat lodged in its mouth for a day. i was finally able to get it out (i worked at the store)
