I picked up the second geryi today, aclimated him and put him in with my other geryi. Right now hey are shoaling very nicely, side by side, exploring the tank. I am getting another from Ron (fishpost) soon and I am deciding if I should seperate these 2 before the 3rd arrives. I know it would probably be a good idea but these 2 are doing so good together.
Any ideas?

I've found when mixing piranhas (pygos at least, might work for geryi) it works well to divide them off so they get used to each other first. Eventually they would start shoaling next to each other with the divider in between and I knew it was cool to mix them. Also, this way if one decides it doesn't like the other and tries to attack it, the divider keeps you from loosing an expensive fish.
Just a suggestion.

a tank of geryi's would look nice, but I belive it was clay that tried that and it didn't work out. I hope your situation is different.

Hareball from predfish has a Geryi tank with 6 or 7 fish, and it seems to work pretty well...

I'd seperate the new one for a couple of days first, to let them get to know each other a little. But on the other hand, you'll never know what could happen once all three are together: I mean, maybe even seperating them for months cannot avoid agressive behaviour or heavy fighting. I guess you'll need a good dose of luck as well for it to work out (remembering they are serra's!)

I divided them about an hour after I made this thread. The larger was chasing the smaller, but not in a real aggressive manner. They are acting very strange and I am going to ask Frank a few questions about it, see if he knows if this is typical. Check the post in his forum (when I write it) and feel free to respond.

That sucks Jeff. Hope they do endup shoaling together again later on. I'd like to see what Frank has to say about this also. Im thinking that maybe the larger one is just showing his dominance for the meantime. But if there were more, the balance of power would be equally divided within a whole group.

Well, I removed the divider all day yesterday and they went through the same routine I described in franks forum off and on all day and then they stopped around 8 and just chilled. I did divide them before I went to bed and I check on them this morning and they were just looking at each other through the divider.
I am not even going to hazard a guess at what this means, it could be nothing.

They are 8 and 9 inches and in a 75 gallon and using every inch of it. When it was just one, it was a very boring tank, now they are so active it is very entertaining.
