It will work with larger pirana and tambaqui. But was pointed out above, it is more a question of space. BTW, I should re-mention, the common name pacu is actually misused by English speaking people. Pacu name is for species known as silver dollars (ie; Metynnis, Mylossoma, Myleus, etc.) Proper name is tambaqui for Piaractus and Colossoma. Just for reference reasons. Otherwise call them what you want.

I have a 7" Pacu in with my 6.5" Reds and it's fine. Actually the stupid thing is pretty vicious. It's always trying to steal territory from the Reds. It does try to mimic them. I'm selling it today though because it's getting too big too fast. Make sure you get a jumbo tank if you're getting a Pacu cause they don't stop growing till they're like 2 feet long and over 20lbs. Seriously.

It would be no problem, i have two little ones (Pacu-Tambaqui) and getting regretful...

As far as i know you need at least a 300g tank for each Pacu (Tambaqui), so buy the 300g or don't buy the Tambaqui!

We are talking about a fish that can reach 2 feet long so think it twice!
