new keyboard

wtf i wish my keyboard would work. im at my moms now. if anyone has any ideas on why let me know. the keyboard has power but the keys wont type. my old one was in the ps2 port/ my new one is in the usb port so its not the connection. i cant respond but i can read the thread so let me know.

what kind of os? try deleteing the ps2 keyboard in the control panel, then restart.hope this helps

USB is not supported by Win95 and the first edition of Win98...
Are the green light (for numlock, scroll lock and the other one) burning when you start up your computer? Perhaps the USB-chord is broken...

Check your BIOS, see if you USB port is activated. I've seen this problem a few times and for some reason the persons' USB port wasn't enabled.

If none of that works go back and get a ps2 keyboard there isn't that many features a usb keyboard could have opposed to a ps2. And you can never rule out that it is manufacturer defect. Happens a lot that's why there are return policies. Anyway that my 2 computer cents.

my helpfull ideas:
*plug it in (to the computer)
*plug the computer in
*turn on the computer
*press the keys
*make sure it is compatable with your computer
*don't try to use it underwater
*open your eyes
*make sure that it is a REAL keyboard

While the computer is on, unplug the keyboard and plug it back in. If it doesn't see the new keyboard then you should check the BIOS settings. The keyboard should still install without the CD that came with it. You will probably need your Windows CD though if it sees the keyboard after unpluggin and replugging it.
