Hows it goin guys, I just got myself 5 baby red belly piranas about a month ago and im lovin em. There the first fish ive ever had, and luckily everything has been goin well so far. Everything is good, but i was sitting and lookin at my tank and was thinking thats its still kinda bland. I went out the other day to get some feder fish, and i noticed that the fish place had some of those small lobsters the electric blue lobsters in with thier piranas. They said when they first put it in with the piranas they tried to bite it but the lobster fought em off and now they leave each other alone. I got one and even though he just hides under some wood most of the time, it really adds to the tank. A bit of variety. and the piranas did try to bite it but everytime they get near it or bite it the lobster just snaps back at them, and they dont really bother it that much anymore. does anybody else have any of these lobsters? Or does anyone have any advice, when the piranas get bigger do you think they might try and go after it again? Im gonna call him pinchy, remember homer got a pet lobster and named it pinchy

welcome to p-fury..and congrad on your little ones..i never personally have had a crayfish in my tank,but from what i heard is eventaully they will eat him.and yeah i remember homer lobster..i love the simpson...

Depending on how big your Ps and lobster match up in size, having them in the same tank can be fatal. I too also had Blue Lobsters in my old 55 gal with my 5" RBs. The Rbs would most def try to make a meal of the lobster and the lobster would try and fend them off. But one night, while my Ps were floating asleep and the lobster with full claws extended, tried to snap at the smallest RB. Thats when I transferred him into a 10 gal feeder tank which, of course in the morning, have cut or half eatten feeders.

Welcome to the board!! Those blue lobsters do look pretty. Its fun to watch them catch feeders. Especially when they run around the tank for twenty minutes to do so!

we have just a regular crayfish and its so much fun to watch it try to catch the fish. lol. Ours is getting pretty big and trys to snip at our cichlids

also when your lobster sheds its skin it will be vounerable to the piranhas while the new skin is still soft - so beware

Give the lobster a cave or something to hide in as it will be extremely vulnerable when shedding, as Innes said.

thanks for all the replys guys. Damn so pinchys gonna bite the dust? And ya i had thought about when he sheds the shells hes gonna b vunrable. But i got some wood in the tank and hes got a couple good hiding spots. do the lobsters get bigger? he's already around 3 inches. I thought that it would stay around the same size, maybe get a bit bigger, but stay pretty small. I think im gonna start posting on this forum, i signed up on another one and i think it woulda taken at least a week to get this many responces.
