geryi are solitare fish..they are a few who have schooled them together(kinda like spilo shoal)..but for most part one only..and with the terns and piraya.should work,make sure there all round the same size though and have plenty of hiding space in case one wants to be a bully ..look throught the piranha fact section,alot of good info there..good luck...

I don't think that will work with geryi and pygos. As for your 55g I think it will work just for the fact they aren't goin to be in the 55 for that long.

yep small pygos for the 55 should be ok as you are adding them to the large tank once they get bigger .i would get the geryi about 3 and add them to the 55 after the pygos leave for the big tank

There arent many mixed pygo-serra tanks that last very long that I have heard of

I wouldn't mix them myself but I would like having a schoal of geryi as I think they're very attractive. If you do this I'm sure you know it takes a lot of effort to keep the peace but I'm sure you're up to the task with the reputation of your 240 gallon with the 41 reds. Good luck.

If so whats the max sizes for terns, caribe and piraya? Just trying to figure out how many I can have...

pygos grow very fast to about 5 to 6 inches then they start to slow down...there just like reds to say..they all come from the same family.and max size is usually 10-12 inches in home aquarium..and that big ass tern(bubba) he was collected that big from the wild ..if i remember right.

Mad i would say 2 - 4 ternetzi's and a piraya should be fine in a 55 for awhile. For the geryi i would say get just a tank of them. I seen grosse gurke's geryi and its a great looking fish, and a shoal of them would be a nice tank. (also a very pricey shoal)

Also for max sizes they say that piraya can reach 24" but ive only heard of a few people that have 16 inchers. Caribe and terns probably about the same around 14-16. I guess the large ones that george had were around 14" and they looked like a large frisbee.
