hi all,

right im hopeing somone can help me with my tank setup....

right havent got anything yet,but can anyone help with this idear

around this sortta size tank

4 ft lenght x 2 ft hight x 1ft wide

Volume in litres: 226.534773
Volume in imperial gallons: 49.837152
Volume in US gallons: 59.850668

what am i going to need to keep ps in a tank around this size im just making sure i get it right,

a powerhead,were eva i can find anyone that sells them in the uk,

a large external filter

deco bits for tank

fish

heater

UV clarifer

anything i have missed must be somthing

and can anyone tell me how they get there water in and out of there system, via ther filter/uv

and how do they attach hose to the side of there tank,the inlet and outlet,

any help please

UV's are useful for ridding tanks of disease, some marine and discus use only. The more delicate species, unneccesary for P's. Powerheads will be readily available from any LFS, UK (like us) or anywhere else. A good external filter would be an Eheim rated for or preferably above your tank size.

To fill my tank I just use a bucket and a water pump in it, with enough power to lift water 2meters. As for removing it is best to use a gravel vac whilst cleaning the tank. The suction from the syphon sucks waste food and crap from the bottom.

2 heaters are often a better idea than one. From the point of heat distribution and incase one fails.

Make sure you cycle your tank before adding you prized fish and do as much reading as you can. Fire any questions you like, most will happily help.

I don't know how clean water is in the UK, but invest in a reverse osmosis system if you can. They are more worth having than a UV sterilizer, IMO.
Aside from that, it looks like you have everything down. Keep posting and try to get some pics of your system. Everyone loves pics.

wish i had that amount of cash

waters not to bad were im from,the cycling wait wont be long as the water seems ok for my mums fish-NOT p's

just to set my mind at ease .... you can NOT feed feaders or any thing live to p's in the uk or anything else for that matter reptials and anything else

any idears on locking my tank

any other info anyone can give me,my tank will be a 300 ltr probly,looking at Eheim filters,going to get a uv probly to be on the safe side,at least a 350-450 filter to cope a powerhead from somwere-HELP were can i get them from in the uk and 2 250-300 watt heaters,how will the inlet and out let of the filter fix to my tank need some help on that

what should i look for in the way of plants?

going to add a bitta wood,a few plants not to much

I have the same measurements as of now so i think i can help u with my experience:

Assuming you want a small shoal of your own with the tank provided i would only get 3 pygos (your choice) per the 20 gallon/fish guideline. I have 4 in mine, but i plan to move them int a 113 gallon real soon, but thats another story (check sig).

Powerhead:
Per our dimensions, using the calculator here:http://www.piranha-fury.com/information/default.php?id=calculator_powerhead you want a powerhead with a 266 to 400gph rate. A powerhead provides current for your fish, also distributes the heat from your heater evenly. and assures that threir is no deadspots in you tank. I highly reccomend getting one.

Heater: get a 250 watt heater. i have a Ebo Jaeger heater and it works like a champ.

Filter:
There are many setups out there u can purchase, i myself have 2 emperor 400's (overkill i know

) but my water is always crystal clear.

i see ur point bout the guide lines but i have been told 15 galons is easy enoght its a 300 ltr tank im getting hopfully, bit bigger then the one i said above changed my mind on that one

You will honestly find powerheads in any local fish store. If you don't then don't go there again. they are a must to stock, from tropical to marine.

yeah,guess so i probly havent found em there yet,

when getting 2 heaters is it best to get 2 the recomended size for ur tank or 2 that make the same power as recomended

or get 2 that are a bit over the recomended power?
