Hey guys I find identifying piranhas kind of hard since they all look soo similar. My guess on this one is some sort of spilopluera. The piranha was labeled BLACK DIAMOND PIRANHA, I don't know if thats generally a spilopleura or rhombeus or what? Initially I was hoping it to be a Rhombeus. So please help guys.

His eye is not cloudy, its from the flash. Are you sure its a Rhombeus? His eyes has no red in it what so ever, but he's only 4in. don't know if its suppose to develop it later or not. He's really shy also. I've been looking at the species gallery and it resembles more like a Serrasalmus Brandtii.

What does everybody think? Much appreciated guys.

Eyes become red around 6" in general, but there're exceptions. I've an 8" rhom without red eyes.

Do you know where the fish came from?

No I do not know where it came from, all I know is that I purchased it from a lfs in Maryland and they had it labeled as Black Diamond Piranha. Here's a more detail pic of the fish.
