i have a 318 small block im about 2 buy headers for it has a 2-barrel carb right now and its stock
is there any type of performance cam i can throw in just running a 2 barrel?

what about 360 heads? should i throw them on?

you need to get a new manifold so you can mount 4 barrel i wouldnt waste my time with a acam w/o doing that first, also you have to take intake off to change cam so might as well do it all at the same time

360 heads will drop youre compression too low.

hughes engines as well as a few other companies make stroker kits for those engines.

a 390 would look exactly like a 318 from the outside. hows that for a sleeper..

as for intake get an m1. it is the best out there for a mopar sb
get a mild cam and a lower rear gear.

this will put you into sleeper mode for sure.

what is this in? any mods to it already?

I'd be looking for a 360 for it.
haha he's silly aint he?

the 318 will outperform and outlast the 360s if built right.
the 360 wasnt exactly a reliable engine in its stock form until you get into the bottom end which is expensive.

this is especially true for the older LA blocks, the Magnum motors are a little better tho

A later model 360 will be the easiest and cheapest way to get the power levels up.
I've never known anyone to swap out a 360 to get some more power from a 318.

Racing junk.com is def. a good site for bargin performance parts...

If you can find a set of 71 or older 340 heads go for it... you will have to get the valve seats redone tho, they are lead heads from the factory...

Also, like the others said, you need to get a 4bbl intake... It's not worth doing a cam and leaving it a 2bbl.

Seriously search around racing junk, and other sites like it, you may find yourself a used crate motor, or someones unfinished project motor for a steal...

Goodluck, and keep us posted on the progress...

cool thanks for all the help! i think i just got some super comp headers off of e-bay to start off my part collection...i guess i will go with the manifold next.

when buying parts what do you think when it comes to brands? does it really matter as long as it is a single plane wether it is an edelbrock or holley?

as far as brands
edelbrock makes nice complete packages for all your needs
you could go with a preformer package
and get the intake carb cam and all the parts you need
i dunno if holley has those offers

I suggest going with Mopar performance parts. They know thier own engines better than anyone else and make some great products...
