my only problem is catching the bastards, they scurry, jump and bassically just freak out whenever a net goes near theyre tank

I have measured my Pygo's by simply waiting my fish to settle down (after feeding) very near the front or side glass. Then I carefully watch the gravel beneath him, and pic one particular granule from both ends (jaw and tail). Then later I measure the distance between them with a gauge.

Hate to blow this out of the water....but this isn't going to be acurate unless the pictures are taken from a tripod at the exact same distance, hieght, and exposure every time.....and even then it's not completely acurate. Great idea but not exact. If you need a longer more complicated explanation I will provide one.
