My freind has the opportunity to buy a small lungfish.

However, in the store it got attacked by a pike cichlid and the fins are pretty torn up and the feller things (not sure correct term) are just stubs.

Will it be able to make a recovery? He takes good care of his fish, but he is just not sure if this guy is beyond hope.

I would think it can make a recovery. My catfish got mangled by a cichlid and lost it's barbs to little nubs and they grew back just fine. Fins as we all know are also easy to regenerate.

i also thinks that the lungfish will recover, but tell him to watch out for fungus diseases, when the thin layer on the fish gets messed up, the fish will easily catch diseases espcescially fungus.

lungfish can bounce back form just about anything but mine was 10 inches when he was chewed on by a leporinus (who promtly died) and his fins have repaired but you can see where he was bitten

but i know for a fact their little 'legs' grow back very fast and perfectly; probably because they are more important to a lungfishes survival thn the fin

A month later...

He bought it and it is growing back great. It did not get any 2ndary infections and is eating well.
