I have access to live shiners.So my question is, are they ok to feed my reds?

look at my topic i was asking the same question and peole where saying that it may contain desiese and my piranhas my die. i think im going to try it though cause i did it with my old ones and they didint die from it

shiners are a freshwater fish. I posted the same topic earlier today... They are doing ok 3 days later... They are fuckin huge and cheap as hell. 3.50 for a dozen (which was actually 23) of feeders about 5 inches..

By shiners, I assume you're referring to small minnows.

I sometimes give my piranha bait minnows leftover from fishing trips. Some I bought in a pet store, others I caught myself.

I have never had a problem, but I understand that every time you intoduce live feeders, there is a theoretical chance of introducing new parasites and possibly a disease-causing pathogen.

i keep natives, i had a tanbk of little shiners to feed my p's when i had them, they didd good till my bro put a bucket of gf flakes into the p tank

its ok, but wild fish can bring unknown things into a tank.
