I have 3 red bellies in a 60 gallon tank and i would like to plant it right now i have 2 17 watt hoods on it that came with the tank. I was going to add a 40w plant bulb and a 40w white light bulb. Will this be to much for my p's. I know the more lighting for plants the better but what about when there are p's in the tank.

I Wouldnt think so.
Back when My P's were still alive, I had two 55's running.
One had 300 Watts of lighting and the other had 160 Watts.
When youd first turn it on, theyd scatter, but then theyd settle down
