I have a 48 inch long 55g tank. I was interested in getting some amazon sword tail plants. The lady at the pet store said that both of my classic 24 inch flourescent hoods would need to be replaced with just a plain glass top with strip lights because the plants can't survive on the lighting I have installed now. This strip lighting is going to cost me a pretty penny. I hear people talking great stuff about these plants. Does this lady know what she is talking about or will my classic hoods be ok if I buy plant bulbs and leave it on for the twelve hours I'm at now with regular lighting? Thanx guys!

Why not get an alternative.. plastic Amazon Sword plants? You wont need to worry about lighting, being nipped at by your Ps and PH balances.. plus they look realistic when water added.
