Im not sure if this belongs here or in tank and equipment, so I apologize if its the wrong forum, but here goes:

Does the colour of the lights used make a difference? I use a small 15 or 25 watt (I dont remember! Im pretty sure its 15...) bulb for my 20 g tank...the light is red, sometimes I put two small lights in, both red, but my P's dont take well to it, so I mostly use one. Anyway, does the red light induce algae and other kinds of growth within the tank, that otherwise wouldnt be there if a normal light were used?

Thanks alot!

I am not sure about the algea growth, but if you possibly can i would not use any light for a p. tank i would just use the light from the room. A pirhana has eyes that dont dialate. So aquarium lighting hurts there eyes causing them to be more skidish.

if i had to take a guess i sould say that a red light will probably grow more red algea
