Today is pancake day as in "it's the 4th of march" or as in "it's thuesday"?

Either way: I don't really like pancakes: ate them too much as a kid.
it is pancake day because it is shrove tuesday, not because its the 4th March, it changes each year as it is a set number of days before Easter.

FYI - it was made up as a way of using up eegs and milk for lent (because these used to be banned during lent)

its quite like a thin "pancake" but I think it is French, I'm sure you can still get them in a pancake house (if you guys still have them)
