my piranha has sustained a simular injury like the above fish. will this leave him without one eye or will this heal? it lookes very bad and i'm worried that it will get infected. i've already added salt to the tank 1 tablespoon per 10 gal. the fish is approx. 4'', will this leave a visible scar its whole life or will it go away with age?
i need to go to my lfs and pick up some melafix or something.

I've read about people adding salt to their tanks to help with the healing process, wouldn't it turn your water bad? I also thought that Piranhas were fresh water fish and would be adversly affected by this treatment. If this is not so, then please advice me further as I would be willing to try this method as I have an injured fish who does not seem to be healing
