Why does my pacu only half an inch larger then my ps. Beast them aswell as beasting the feeders more then they do. Also I find it very pathetic that they let my very small convict latch on to their tail. The only thing I can think of is there to woried about me being in the room.

Convicts are foolhardy and aggresive. But he will eventually be eaten. Larger fish do tend to be the boss and the P's will be hesitant on taking on a larger healthy fish, like the Pacu You will ultiamtely be left with the P's though.

That is an odd selection in the one tank!
Convicts you have to admire thier courage
you can have my two pacus they are getting too damn big, all i feed them is algae disks and cyclid food.
if its possiable reds shouldnt even be considered real piranhas..there so skittish and weak i hate them.in all my years ive only heard like once or twice where reds have been agreesive..pacu over reds for me.sell them and get you some caribes..
I'm just gonna set up another tank, and pray the rhom I buy is mean stuff.
ya a have a convict two and hes about 6 inches and i have a red thats about 5 inches and the convict kicks his ass all the time and the other 6 piranhas wont even go neer him, reds are to skitish
lol my red bellies are all f*cking hard asses...today i was bored and drunk so i put a lizard ibn the tank tied down to a weight(aka sometghing to hang pictures with) within a minute or tooo they ate him too the head and the tail...basically he got so messed up i couldnt save him even when i was standin basically in front of the tank and also in the past 4 or 5 days they killed nearly 30 feeders...i got them frome riverwonders.com go figure hhhahahaha
i love them!! oh yea by the way i own three red bellies in total

My reds were skittish when id feed them 2-3 times a day.
I cut that sh*t out, Fed em ONCE A day, and they werent SO skittish anymore.
They were killers, Just ask all the Mice and feeders they went through
Just because your Reds are still skittish and shy, it means Reds as a species all of a sudden basically suck?

I hate to say it, but you are probably one of the many that got into this hobby with waaay too much expectations - any fish larger than your piranha's can bully the piranha's around: doesn't always happen, but there's always a possibility.
If you want piranha's because they are ruthless killers that shred up everything in their tank, there's only one advice to give: get other fish, because you will stay disappointed with your fish (and most likely just as much with any other piranha you get...)
Piranha's are predators that are hunted by scores of other predators themselves, no more no less: certainly not mythical and unbeatable murderers...

I thought that same thing till I bought my baby p's. These lil bitches are crazy even when I feed them 2-3x a day. Starting to attack my pleco and plastic plants. If they keep this up they'll be working with a bare tank.
Scratch that stuff about the convict I came home from the Pets Mart, and half his face is missing. I love how I meant nothing by I wanted them for a demon in a tank. I was just suggesting that pacus are supposed to be peaceful little mothers. Mine just about has the temperment of an irritan. Also he knocks the lid around when he jumps.

couldnt have said it better....

you obviously suck at life... you should just go by a male FH... your reds have just gotten in their tank, give them a break... convicts are always aggressive... and pacus are generally aggressive while young... just yesturday i saw one kicking a big parrot's ass...

get caribes and see what happens...... THE SAME THING

you need to have patience for an aggressive fish
Another thread proving my point about how lame the people here are....

I wish I could find another hobby...

Give the ignorant a break.
get real only reason people buy reds is cause they cant afford to buy pirayas or terns some people are on a budget so they stick with redscause there so damn cheap .not like if they had there choice of all 4 kinds and said im gona get reds.i have my reasons for saying they suck and im sticking to my opinion..
there have been adequate posts in this thread to discuss the matter at hand, and enough to justify a closing of a thread gone crappy.

I dont think this thread needs to be closed, people just need to respect others opinions and not act like kids.
There is no way anyone can determine the agression of a species of fish by judging them based on what happens in the tiny world of their tank....and certainly not after only a few weeks in that captive enviorment. The nastiest fish I ever owned was a P. nattereri (red). I had this guy for a couple years and he only grew to about 7". He beat up my geryi, an elongatus, an irritans, and all the other pygos (up to 12" terns) I put him with. I gave him to a friend along with a eigenmani...he ate the eigen.
Aggression is not determined by the species but the individual...imo.
how would you feel being locked up in a cage and people throw in food and waching you hehehe theyr skittish at the first but they will soon or later eat in front of you /beeing bad ases
like everyone else said it depends on the fish mine are all very aggresive except for a smaller one of mine who gets picked on by the bigger 2 but they all kill sh*t hardcore theyve eaten like 30 goldfish in three days before red bellies are far from pussies...u just have to give them the right enviroment...like dont expect to sit in front of the tank with three friends with the tank light on thinking they are gunna be like jaws that just aint gunna happen..but when the lights go out and the sh*t gets dark if you watch them from a little distance you'll see some hard asses!!!
