well that depends on who you ask this question.... some will say only chuck in like one... other will say chuck in like 25+ or so ...
...if you stick to the 20G rule that lots of people tend to use then you would go for about 7 and a halfLOL... ok make that 8
.... but i think 10 would still be more than ok... but it is your money, and your call

10 Natts or 7-8 Cariba will do fine!
Good filtration needed in this case!

I also agree, I think 9-10 would be fine for RBP's.

By the way out of curiousity what kind of filtration do you have on the tank?A lso remember to wait awhile before you put your piranhas in there, I use to not wait and only cycled for a couple weeks and flopped them in. Wait a month than your set to go.

Forget RBs.. Just get a 17" Rhom. If not, then the 9-10 Rbs/Natts would be siutable, and or 7 Caribas. Even a mixture of all mentioned is even better!!!

what are these Caribas that everyone is saying i should put in? Sorry I don't know all the differnt kinds of piranhas yet. If I put 9 rbs in there how many Caribas should I also put in? As far as filtration is concerned I am still getting it all together. I have a fluval 403, Two back mounted mechanical filters, and will be making a 20 gallon sump soon. And I have (4) 250gph power heads that I could include in the tank also. Any suggestions are greatly apreciated!

Pygocentrus Cariba looks very much like the more common redbelly (P. Nattereri), but it has a very distinct dark humeral spot (ie. just behind the gill plate), see below:

Source: unknown

In general, cariba seem to be a bit more territorial/agressive than redbellies, and therefore need a bit more room per fish: that's why people advise either 8-10 reds, or about 7 cariba.
If you decide to get 9 reds, I personally wouldn't add cariba....

yep 8-10 reds will be ok as everybody else advises but depending on filtration (if you get your new set up done 8-10 is ok) match the amount of fish to the filtration you have you can always add more later
