just curious i have 2 convicts with 5 lrg feeders and 4rbps 1.5" adding 3 more tommorroww hopefully now i look at this tank and i laugh but im also like wtf!!!! the convicts are punking the p's they come close to them they chase the p's and the run!!!!! anyone else had some bold ass convicts i know it wont last long but kinda chuckle at it

Size for size the convicts are badder at that size. But put a 4 inch convict up against a 4 inch spilo.. or some RBs and see who gets punked.

Trust me.. a shoal, even when babies can sometime be moredangerous than going toe to toe with 1 P in equal size. These guys might back down now.. but remember, they're good at ambushing prey. I wouldnt doubt if they attacked your Cons even at this early age.

I had some convicts living ok with reds, but when I added cariba, they were gone that night.

hahaha i had 2 huge ass convicts in with my 6 reds for like 2 months now i just got home and BOOM one was gone. for no reason

my convicts ruled my reds even when they were half the size of the reds, once cariba went into the tank, the convicts aggression wasnt tolerated, the cariba 1st ripped both of their mouth's off, then ate them completely a month later

my convicts lasted nearly a year with the reds though

Anytime you have a direct introduction of a new specie, be it a pirana or feeder, that new fish will easier be the aggessor or the food.

Since a separate distinctive species was introduced to an established tank, naturally the fish that looks less like a pirana will be eaten. Simple semantics.

oh, I didnt mention, I had the reds and cons in a 30g, and the 3 cariba in a 40g

then one day moved them all to a 125g once it cycled so I dont know how that effected things

Convicts are a tough smaller species of cichlids and they will stick around for a while...good luck :

i guess i always figured they would get eaten just never though it would happen. was very shocked becasue they only nipped them once or twice. but they are good tank mates they usualy help clean up too.
