i have 4 red bellies in a 75 gallon tank. they are about 3 inches. i just added one more thats about 4-5 inches. my friend gave him to me because he had him in a tank with 5 black piranhas and he was just getting beat up so i took him to save him from getting murdered. anyways ever since i put him in it seems like all my fish are more agressive. i only feed them feeders about 2-3 times since i had them. anyways when i go to put say shrimp in the tank now they all eat it but there is alot more chasing each other and fin nipping going on. and when i just sit around and watch them before i go to bed say i notice alot of chaseing and nipping also. mostly when i put food in the tank. but could this have been because of the added piranha. i hear it can be and somtimes happens. and someone else said that

and somone else said that they will stop and get use to each other again they just have to find out the dominate fish again or somthing like that. they have alot of plants and the lighting is not bright i feed them alot. and the temp isnt to high. i took alot of helpful hints and ideas from people on this web page and i thank u. everyting in my tank is fine. the only thing i can think is because i added him. what do u guys suggest take him out and just sell him or will they all get use to each other. when i put the powe head on they dont do much but one of my fish hates it he sites right behind the prefilter of the awuaclear, its kinda funny. but anything let me know what u guys think and if u understand what i am saying thanks

the funny thing about the new one is i guess he got nipped in the eye because his left eye looks like a cat but everytime he comes out from the drift wood he always turns left to go back under it and hits it. hes a good fish rather not give him up but if i have to so my others are happy i will

If you did not do this when you added him, remove all 5 reds from your tank, rearrange the decor, and then add them back. The 4 that were in there before already had established territories and now you have tossed in a 5th. You need to get rid of the old territories and let them establish new ones with the new guy.

Would you happen to have pix of this "new" red belly? If you friend says that he had 5 black piranhas in his tank before, then I doubt that you might have a red belly. Its not that I question your fish, but question if your friends knowledge of his Ps. First of all, black piranhas (RHOMS) cannot be housed together, but isolated.

Another thing is that a new fish in the tank can stir up trouble when recent residents in the tank have already established their territorial grounds. You've lowered your temp, switched decors and fed propperly.. just give them time to adjust, and suggestions on lowering the stregnth of your powerhead may work.

as you have already changed to tank decor around i would not do it again.the problem you have is possibly that you have added a single fish to an established tank which is alot bigger that the others .this new fish may be trying to be the dominant one or the dominant one previoulsy may be trying to keep its dominance causing all the agro .i would keep a close eye on them but it may settle down you have only just added the fish and sometimes it takes time to settle

Nothing to worry about, IMO it's normal behavior since they have to re-establish their pecking order...peace will come with time!
