hi guys,
how big do captive bred reds get? iv had this one for a very long time and i think its atleast 13 inches.iv never measured him because its strong and mean but the fish next to him is 10 inches exactly .what do you think?
But it's not the largest one I've heard of - that one measured 16" from nose to tail. They possibly get even even larger, as fish don't really have a maximum size - under ideal conditions they keep growing, although it goes ever so slow once they get big.
Doesn't mean that reds of 12" and more are a common sight, however - did you raise him from a baby?
about 6 years old.lives in a 150 gal tank which i recently upgraded to.
but previously spent most of its life in a 90 gal.
eats squid and sprats mostly and the odd bit of ox liver but only if its been starved for several days to be sure that no bits are left
